Why I use lavender oil, the benefits and why you should use it too? By Alison Cassidy
Got a headache or stomach pains? The easiest solution would be to take a paracetamol and wait for the magic pill to work. Unfortunately for me I am unable to take paracetamol, so I investigated alternative medicines and was introduced to the world of Essential Oils.
Lavender Oil is amazing and should be found in every home medicine cabinet. The lavender oil is extracted from its flower which has a sweet scent with woody undertones.
Lavender is used to:
- Ease headaches
- Ease eczema
- Ease stomach & period pains
- Relaxes muscles and eases tension
It is also used by herbalists and aromatherapists to treat depression and the antiseptic properties within the oil help to heal acne or sunburn.
I recommended lavender oil to Dawn (co-founder of Sunflower Productions Psychic Events) as she told me she sometimes has trouble sleeping at night. “The lavender oil really helped when I had trouble sleeping. I found that massaging a few drops of the lavender oil into my temples relaxed me and helped me to drift off into sleep.” Dawn
Throughout the years lavender has been used for its mystical properties too…
- Medieval monks wore sprigs of lavender to banish evil spirits.
- Roman Times – When a new baby was born they would burn lavender over hot coals to surround the mother and child with the scent of compassion.
- Ancient Greeks – Dedicated lavender to Hecate, their goddess of witches, sorcerers and enchantment.
Lavender is the sacred scent of the Celtic month of the Willow Moon (15th April to 13th May). It was believed that picking lavender during the full moon enhances its magical powers.
